 "LOVE IT!" 2009-08-11
By Joeanne Harris
I debated which GPS to get for weeks and researched for days. I even went so far as to post the question on Facebook to get others opinions. I'm glad I listened and got the Garmin. So far, it has been perfect. The directions are right on and if I miss a turn (or take another one because I still know where I am) it recalculates almost instantly. Glad I got the Garmin!!

Love this Garmin. Perfect for the back-seat driver - gives you your current speed, speed limit, and you can always see where you are. Plenty of warning about which freeway lanes you need to be in to make exits. Easy to understand voice, easy to follow directions.

 "What's in the box?" 2009-07-17
By Molaker (Cedarcreek, MO)
Actually, there is little wrong with the nuvi 255 I bought. It works well. But, what is included in the box is not well defined. What does "Video Power cable included" mean? I made an assumption that it was a USB cable and ordered an auto 12v adaptor with my 255 as Amazon stated it was "what others also ordered". Wrong! An auto 12v adaptor was included, but NO USB cable. If you look at the Amazon page describing the nuvi 255, a USB connection is mentioned many times. Programming the 255 with your computer is one of the main features. One would think Garmin would include a USB cable or at least Amazon would accurately indicate what is in the box. Bad grade - Garmin. Bad grade - Amazon

I wound up ordering a USB cable from a retailer on Amazon (AccessoriesZone). To pile more crap on, the cable I received was advertized for the nuvi 255, but did not fit. The Garmin end of the cable was wrong. AccessoriesZone is sending another USB cable, but there is no guarantee it will fit. In the meantime, I have 2 auto 12v adaptors and a bum USB cable.

I love the 255, but I feel Amazon and Garmin misled me on this one. The jury is still out for AccessoriesZone.

This is the second Garmin Nuvi we have purchased. No real problems, like the interface and very easy to use

 "Garmin GPS Nuvi 255" 2009-07-12
By CRH (Anderson, SC)
Good GPS but not as impresses as I thought I would be. I have an older Garmin and it actually seems to perform better than this unit. The three advantages of this unit are its size, the ability to "speak" street names, and better screen (does not wash out in sunlight as much).

If the choice is to pay $100 for a map upgrade or buy this unit, the choice is clearly to pay a little extra and get the 255.
