 "Best depth/fish finder we've had" 2009-08-25
By Barbara Yearley (Amherst, OH USA)
We've had other brands of depth finders. This one is the best we've had! The color screen is much easier to see and the depth readings are consistent. It functions well even though we put it in the hull with epoxy. The other brand would fluctuate. We have not had too much experience with the fish finder yet. Just be careful of one thing. We were not aware that when you press the off button it first dims the screen. We thought it was off during the day and since it was just dimmed, the next time we went to our boat the battery was dead!

 "Garmin 160C Fishfinder" 2008-06-09
By J. Sirvio (Wisconsin)
I have used the [ASIN:B000ETTPCG Garmin 160C Portable Fishfinder (Dual Beam)]Garmin 160C several times now and find that it is quite easy to use and it works well not only locating fish but the constant depth reading has saved my boat being hung up in shallow water areas where I fish. The optional audible alarm that I added was a plus as well so you can hear the warning of fish and depth audibly as well as see on the screen both fish and water depth situations.

Great item for the low cost!!

 "Perfect solution" 2009-09-10
By CRL (Peoria, Illinois, USA)
This case is well padded to protect the GPS device, yet is still small enough to put in a cargo pocket, a purse or hang on a belt loop. A GPS device is too expensive to leave unprotected and this case does the job. We use our Garmin for both traveling and geocaching, so it is handled a lot. Highly recommend this item.

 "Great case" 2009-07-05

One of the best cases to protect and carry expensive electronic equipment that I have ever owned. A must addition for 500 or 550 owners.

 "Best Case Ever!" 2009-01-26

This was perfectly created for our Nuvi 500. It's a hard case with a soft feel and its great for protection when its in a bag or backpack. Makes traveling with our GPS even more comfortable!

 "Good Little Case" 2008-11-05
By KC (Lansing, MI USA)
Bought this with my Nuvi 500. It is made of hard synthetic material that smells like new shoes. The only reason it gets 4/5 is because they could've made one side toucher to protect the touchscreen. (or the whole case to protect from falling) The case material is fairly rigid and will protect against scratches and a few bumps but it is not going to save your Nuvi 500 from a fall onto a rock or what have you. However there is no better option on the market that i can see, so this case will keep your Nuvi 500 out of the elements and give it a nice sheltered home. The inside of the case has two elastic bands on the sides that only allow it to open half way before stretching, not sure if i like that or not. I am satisfied with my purchase, however.

 "A nice case, but it could have been better." 2008-11-04
By Timothy B. Riley (San Antonio, TX USA)
I own and have owned quite a few GPS receivers including a recently purchased Garmin Colorado 400t. I bought my new Nuvi 500 (my 3rd Nuvi) as a cross-over GPS, one that I could walk around with, bike with, use to geocachache, as well as use it in a car. This is what the 500 and the 550 were designed for (according to Garmin's website). I had hoped that Garmin might have designed a great case for it, as they did for the Colorado series. Alas, this was not the case (pun fully intended).

The GOOD:

* It's lightweight

* It is very compact

* It seems to be good at keeping out the elements

* It's priced right

The BAD

* For a GPS that is billed as being field-worthy this case has a zipper (making it harder to get into), not a latch as does the Colorado case

* It has no belt loop, mount or strap to allow one to easily carry it in the field. The Colorado case has several mounting options, this case has only as tiny string on the zipper

* It has no storage options, not even for an extra battery

I am very happy with the GPS unit itself but the case could have been designed to augment the function of the device, not just hold it. This may have been designed with all Nuvi's in mind, which would explain it's generic features. However, a waterproof, multifunctional GPS like the 500 (and it's brother, the 550) deserve a case of their own.

 "GolfLogix GPS Review" 2009-09-04
By Richard K. Laury (Middletown, CT USA)
Seems to consistently under estimate yardage by a few yards (10 or less) compared to some friends who have the Callaway GPS and Sky Caddie 2.5 GPS. Still better than my yardage estimates and has helped my game with yardage but it does make me wonder. Some times it backs up a hole but that could just be me erroneously hitting a button. Screen has intensity settings, which I like and it does give the important info relative to shotmaking and hazards.

 "Why pay so much for this?" 2009-09-03
By Itsmeagain! (Nobamaburg)
After a somewhat exhaustive study (by me) of the Garmin Vista HCx (that I own) vs the various "golf" GPS receivers, I have come to the conclusion that the regular "Vista" type GPS receivers provide the same information as these specialized "golf" GPS receivers, at less than half the cost. And the general use GPS receivers, such as the Vista, are more versatile overall for hiking, climbing, etc, than the specialised golf recievers, yet they can also be easily used as "golf" receivers. What else is there to say?

 "My stroke saving personal caddy" 2009-09-02
By Dave (Bluegrass Country, USA)
This fantastic piece of space age equipment has rejuvenated the game of this 80 year old. I belong to a sizeable Seniors (over 60) golf group that plays once or twice each month on different courses in the area. I used it yesterday for the first time on a course I have not played in 5 years and captured 3rd (third) place. Usually I am down in the bottom 20%. Having an opportunity to know the distance to different hazards, and then the green, has given me an incredible advantage. I wish I had this marvelous piece of equipment 30 years ago. I could have had a bigger 401K.

 "Great golf aid" 2009-08-28
By Henry R. Wiseman (East Peoria, Il)
I have seen the Golflogix in action by playing golf with a friend that had one. I was impressed enough to buy one myself. I have found that I was wrong a lot of times on distance playing a course I was familiar with. I also have asked fellow golfers to guess the distance they were playing from and they were wrong 75% of the time. They also were impressed. Great golf aid. I would recommend this to anyone.

 "Golflogix" 2009-08-26
By Brandon Malloy
Not what I really wanted out of a GPS device for golf. It will show you the distsance to the hole but thats about all I could really use it for. For only another $50 or so, I was able to buy an Onpar device from ebay. Much happier with that.
