 "Broken Clip" 2009-07-30
By James B. Sprouse (clovis, nm)
Had this for about 3 months and went to take it off and the zip tie style clip broke off in my hand making the strap totally useless. Was difficult to get it tight enough to hold the GPS as well. Would not recommend.

"Not Secure Enough for Most Bikes" 2009-07-27
By Mark Edel
This is not a reasonable GPS mount for a bicycle. While the item itself is sturdy enough, the ball-mounts on most GPS brackets are not strong enough to survive the kinds of jolts to which typical bicycle handlebars are subject. Three miles of riding was all it took to send my Nuvi skidding across the pavement. This particular mount also positions the GPS way out from the handlebars, amplifying vibration and calling attention to itself.

"Convenient BUT .... you better use some super glue" 2009-07-11
By College Counselor (North Bethesda, MD)
I have used this mount for two bike rides. It is easy to put on and remove from my bike's handlebars and performed fine. However, because it uses the standard garmin ball in cradle design, I am constantly nervous that a road bump will send it flying. This concern was confirmed when I stopped riding and used my bike's kickstand and my bike fell over. The garmin with cradle flew off the mount's ball. Luckily the bike was on the grass so no harm occurred to the gps. But if it had hit a sidewalk, it could have been toast. Obviously you could make the claim that no mount is perfect and this uses the standard garmin issue cradle. So you don't have to spend much money to get your gps on your bike. But I would only use this mount again if I glued the cradle to the mount. I think this is a good solution to the problem. Unfortunately for me, there are no replacement cradles on the market for the nuvi 500. You can find replacements for the 200 series cheaply on ebay. Because I need my nuvi 500's cradle for the car, I can't glue it so I have ordered a Ram cradle and bike mount. I know the Ram cradle is secure since I use one on my Honda Silverwing.

 "good while it lasted" 2009-07-08
By C. Sams (Michigan)
I bought one of these handlebar mounts and it worked good until the release that loosens the strap broke off. It is probably great if you can put it on and leave it or put on and remove a few times. I would say I put it on and removed it probably around 6 times.

 "Very good motorcycle mount" 2009-06-01
By J. Cardillo (South Jersey, USA)
This unit is a lot smaller and less bulky than I thought it would be from the pictures provided. I have only used the unit for a couple days, but have put about 80 miles on my motorcycle with it, and it works great! No problems at all, and the gps didn't shift at all while riding (my bike doesn't have a lot of vibrations though). I hope that it keeps working this well in the future, I am definately satisfied with the purchase.

Unit was shipped quickly. I have posted a few pictures of this product in use on my bike to help other customers get an idea of what it looks like on the bike.

 "FRICTION MOUNT BASE" 2009-03-30
By Robert W. Willard
Excellent product and does a great job. Have not had it "slip or slide" at all. Fantastic product and sure beats puting your GPS on the windshield, and leaving a mark on the windshield to tell felons that you have a GPS stashed away in the car.

I highly recommend this product to all.

 "California Changes Law" 2008-12-26
By R. Sutton (Rio Vista, CA USA)
For the folks that may be buying a dash mount in California to stay lawful, the law has changed effective January 1, 2009:

"Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill allowing drivers to take advantage of technology intended to help with navigation. It takes effect Jan. 1, 2009.

State law now (2008) prohibits anyone from driving with objects or materials placed, displayed, installed, affixed or applied upon windshields. Exceptions are made for such items as rearview mirrors, toll road transponders and small stickers.

The new law, previously SB1567, allows global positioning system devices to be affixed to vehicle windshields in specific locations.

Portable GPS devices will be permitted to be mounted "in the seven-inch square in the lower corner farthest removed from the driver." They also could be installed "in the five-inch square in the lower corner nearest the driver..."

 "Sucks!" 2008-07-28
By Santosh Kandregula (USA)
This one could not hold on to the GPS at all...

The GPS kept falling, after few times the GPS stopped working and eventually I had to send the GPS for replacement.

Then I bought GPS accessory for holding the GPS, though slightly more expensive than this one, it is worth it.

Instead of wasting money on this one, I advise people to go for original GPS accessory. This one costed me around ~$20 and the one from Garmin costed ~$27 (both with shipping).

Actually I am not able to rate it with zero(0), so I had to give atleast a 1 star to post this comment.

"Wonderful Alternative to Windshield Mount/Docking Station" 2009-09-02
By vanack (Lincoln, NE)
I agree entirely with the other reviewers on how well this works in the car as opposed to the windshield mount. However I found it works great as docking station for my TT 630. The TT 630 comes with just a usb cord and no docking station so I set this on my desk for home charging and updates, then pick the whole thing up and go. Pretty slick!

 "Works perfectly" 2009-08-27
By Paul Jensen
Works very well. I tried the supplied button from the TomTom for a dash mount and it was worthless. I didn't like it on the windshield since it blocked my viw at times. This holds th unit just fine and stays put on my Honda Pilot dash without slipping. For anti theft I just pick the whole unit up and hide it in the glove compartment.

"A must have for your GPS" 2009-08-05
By M. St Onge (NH)
If you own a GPS for you car, you need this. This heavy base sits on your dashboard with a slip resistant bottom. You use the suction cup base of your GPS to attach it to the smooth plastic of the base. Then you just place it on your dash. Why would you want to fight with constantly sticking and removing it from your windshield? When I park my truck, I just put the GPS, base and all, into my center console compartment. Anyone looking for electronics to steal won't see my GPS. Better still, they won't see the suction rings on the windshield which is a sure give away that there is a GPS in the car.

"If I could give this 5 plus stars I would....do NOT buy the Bracketron, buy this" 2009-08-02
By Larry Diamond (Austin, TX USA)
This is an incredibly stable pad. Awesome in fact. I had tried the Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad and it slid all over. It endangered not only the unit but me and my passengers. It knonked my wife on the knee pretty hard. You had to constantly be on edge that it would fall off.

This item though is like super-glue. It sticks on EVERY turn and I am using it on the same exact dashboard the Bracketron would slide constantly on. This has not slid once on any turn, sharp U-turns included. I can not get it to budge. As an added bonus it is much smaller than the Bracketron hence easier to transfer between cars or stick in a glove department. It is usually priced higher than the Bracketron but it will be the best extra few dollars you have spent.

 "WORKS GREAT!" 2009-07-31

I couldn't imagine this thing clinging to the dash when I made quick stops and sharp turns but it does. Works great with my Tom Tom with plenty of clearance for the cable connection at the bottom. Buy with confidence!
