I bought this to go with my Garmin 7200 and have used it about a week. I got it mainly for XM reception, but also for the XM traffic and weather updates. I am still checking out the usefulness of the traffic updates, but so far the XM reception has been great. I don't even have to put it on the dashboard. I keep it on the console by the shift in my Armada and still get all three bars showing full, meaning at maximum, reception. I am pleased about this because it tended to get quite warm sitting on the dash in the sun, and over time heat kills electronics, plus I don't have to have it in plain sight for thieves to notice and I don't have to have wires streaming all over the place.
Keep in mind that one reason for the steep price is due to the fact that the actual XM radio is within this circular unit....it's not just an antenna. The Garmin GPS is merely an interface for the XM receiver that is built into the GXM30 Antenna.
Also keep in mind that it does not work as an antenna for GPS reception, only for the reception of XM radio. So if you are having trouble in that area, this is not going to remedy it. You will need to purchase yet another antenna for the GPS satellite reception side of things.
Lastly, on another note, if you already have an XM radio built into your car radio, but want the XM weather/traffic updates to be pumped through your Garmin GPS, you will have to activate this as a separate radio and pay the additional fee for both an additional XM radio and the XM weather/traffic updates. You might want to give some serious thought as to whether or not you really want that feature that badly.
It does seem to be high quality, but nevertheless I plan to keep it inside my car, which should help it last longer. I do believe, though, that despite what it does it is, in fact, over-priced, so minus one star.

I am mixed in my feelings regarding this product. It does work, just not as well as the other Garmin weather products. If I had this first, I am sure I would have liked it better. It is tough to see the weather on a small screen if you have it zoomed in tight. Other than that it is good.

Purchased my Zumo a year ago. Just purchased the GXM30 satallite antenna. I wished that I buoght them togeather. The combination linked to my Harley's sound system prouduce crysltal clear sound. I truly would recommend this combination to all.

I love my Zumo 550 and GXM30, but the small USB-style connector that connects the XM with the motorcycle mount seems to vibrate itself loose on my unit and then the unit loses connection. I am not sure if I am missing something or not. I had Garmin send a new XM antenna and that didn't solve the problem. I just bought myself a brand new mount and am hoping that works, but am not confident.
I tried putting a small piece of wadded up paper and then a small circular table-top felt protector in there to press the connector into place and that worked for a short time but is no longer working.
Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

I have the Garmin StreetPilot 7200 and this antenna was required to use the unit for XM. I got rid of alot of clutter on my dash by having both gps and XM in the same. Make sure that this antenna is up high! I have it mounted on my semi truck driver side mirror arm, and in eastern Ohio and PA it's cutting out alot.
Pros: One thing on the dash.
Cons: Cuts out even when the south sky is clear...
